On World Water Day 2018, partners in a new global investment fund for water will unveil Water Unite β a purpose-driven brand uniting individuals and companies against water poverty and plastic pollution.
Participating partners in Water Unite are harnessing fast-growing revenues from bottled water sales, directing around 1 cent per litre to the Water Unite fund.
Founding partners include Co-Op UK, with discussions underway with other major retailers and bottled water producers. Consumers are being invited to take part by choosing brands carrying the Water Unite logo.
With bottled water sales projected to be worth over $200 billion annually by 2020, Water Unite has the potential to raise world-changing sums for investments in water services for the people and communities to who need them most.
Water Unite founder Duncan Goose said: βIt is enormously exciting to see this initiative coming together. We want to raise $100 million to launch the fund, and believe this is absolutely achievable in the coming year. Companies across the retail and bottled water industry already demonstrate their commitment to sustainability through numerous initiatives addressing water stewardship and water poverty and plastic recycling. We will take this work to a much larger scale and make a positive difference to the lives of hundreds of millions of people.β
